Final Sumdog Update!

11th Jun 2020

What a maths marathon it has been! The effort from all classes this week has been phenomenal and we are so proud of you all boys and girls!

Throughout the week the competition has been extremely tight, however the final day saw the lead exchanged multiple times before an overall winner was obtained. Incredibly classes from St. Joseph’s were placed in the top four positions overall with primary two in seventh position. This really is a remarkable achievement with 48 schools registered to compete.

A special well done to all the boys and girls in Miss Rock’s class who emerged victorious in the dying minutes of the competition. Rumour has it there were a few messages of encouragement shared by Miss Rock through Class Dojo as the finishing time approached. Either way, a brilliant effort primary five & primary six.

In our school competition, Mrs Brolly’s class emerged victorious despite the pressure from Miss Smith’s and Miss Rock’s class. Remember, each day points have been awarded to the highest ranking classes in our school:

1st position = 30 points

2nd position = 20 points

3rd position = 10 points

On the final day, the following classes were in point scoring positions:

With a total of 100 points, the boys and girls in primary three should certainly feel very proud of themselves!

Pupil competition

Finally to recognise the brilliant individual efforts of a number of pupils. With 365 children competing from 48 classes, it is incredible to see that pupils from St. Joseph’s are currently placed in 16 of the top 25 places overall. A special congratulations to Aria Fahy who incredibly won the entire competition with a score of 973/1000.

With such a brilliant effort, two classes have now secured the coveted prize of a day off Home Learning Activities. Congratulations to Mrs Brolly's and Miss Rock's class. Your teacher will be in touch throughout the week boys and girls to arrange your day off.
