P4 Accelerated Reading review

24th Apr 2020

Good morning boys and girls, I hope you and your families are safe and well and able to enjoy this lovely weather. Once again P4 you have stepped up to the challenge of home learning with fantastic results. I appreciate how difficult it is without the daily support of school and your friends but you are doing fantastically well.

Reading is a key life skill which will enrich and enhance your lives beyond measure and it’s wonderful to see so many of you embracing it. Remember to chose books you enjoy reading and when Accelerated Reading is over to continue reading as much material as possible - comics, sports pages, anything at all, as long as you enjoy it.

This week I want to make a call out to some children who have made an extra special effort with their reading this week and are racing towards, and in some cases beyond their targets (in alphabetical order);

Dara Breen +30%, Cahir Casey +33%, Leah Fegan +124%, Lelia Hughes +28%, Finn Morrissey +25%, Analiese Quinn+28%,, Brannagh Smith +31%, Lucy Smith +20% and Caela Stapleton +42%

This weeks Most Words Read leaderboard is topped by Leah Fegan who read a massive 577,513 words - Leah did you stop reading at all over Easter to eat some chocolate eggs? A massive well done Leah, this remarkable result takes you to an incredible 314% of your target. Phenomenal for a P4!

In second place is Finn Morrissey who read 352,634 words this week. This result takes Finn to 125% of his target and it’s great to see you are continuing to work on even when you’ve reached your target.

This week P4 you have read a combined total word count of ......

                                                   2,503,187 words!!!!!!!!

This week my STAR Reader is ...... CLAIRE McELVANNA well done Claire. You are working really well and you reached your target this week but are continuing to read on. Good girl, keep this up.

A massive well done to everyone to everyone in P4 who are working so hard in such difficult times, keep it going.
