P4 Accelerated Reading update

7th May 2020

Good afternoon boys and girls, congratulations on another very successful week reading. I really hope you are reading books that you are enjoying because reading should be enjoyable and fun.

This week I want to give a special mention to a few children who I have watched working steadily since this session of Accelerated Reading began. Harley, Rachael, Annie and Rioghan you are working really hard and your efforts are not going unnoticed by myself. Keep up this great effort children.

I also want to congratulate Aaron this week on his great effort with his reading. Keep this up Aaron, good boy.

I’m sending my congratulations to Dara who reached his target this week. Well done Dara, I look forward to tracking your progress week on week. Set yourself a new target and I’ll follow your progress.

It’s wonderful to see children who have already reached their targets continuing on with new personal targets. Kacey at 209%, Leah at 419%, Lelia at 134%, Claire at 135%, Finn Morrissey at 163% and Caela at 145%. Children, these are wonderful scores and a testament of your dedication to your reading. Please keep this up and I look forward to tracking your progress weekly.

I want to congratulate Finn McGoldrick for currently holding the class record for the highest accuracy rate at an amazing 98.8%. A great record Finn and one worth holding on to.

This week was another very successful week in terms of the number of words read and our top ten leaderboard looks like this:

  1. Leah Fegan 111,258
  2. Caela Stapleton 56,987
  3. Kacey Cox 32,236
  4. Rachael McCann 21,441
  5. Conor McGoldrick 19,784
  6. Annie Greene 19,591
  7. Dara Breen 19,326
  8. Harley King 16,157
  9. Rioghan Grimley 11,326
  10. Finn Morrissey 11,267

Well done to everyone above and to everyone in our class as we all move towards our targets.

This week our STAR readers are two children who have worked steadily and consistently at their reading week on week. They have applied the same enthusiasm at home as they would have in school, which is even more pleasing given the difficult circumstances we are in. So a massive well done to ...
