P4 Accelerating Reading

3rd Apr 2020

A huge congratulations to all the boys and girls in P4 who are continuing to work so hard at home. I know it’s not easy trying to do all your school work at home but I’m so proud of how you have risen to the challenge. You should be very proud of yourselves.

It was wonderful to see so many more lovely names on our Accelerated Reading board this week and I do appreciate some of you are reading longer books and haven’t taken a test just yet- don’t panic, it’s a marathon not a sprint!

This week I want to congratulate Leah Fegan for achieving her target (106%) and knowing Leah she won’t rest on her laurels. A wonderful achievement Leah, very well done.

I also want to acknowledge the sterling effort Finn Morrissey is making (59.7% of his target). Keep going Finn, well done.

My attention has been drawn to a number of boys who are making a valiant effort with their reading and it’s brilliant to see them working away so diligently under such challenging circumstances: Dara Breen, Rioghan Grimley, Jack Lappin and Conor McGoldrick. Congratulations boys on maintaining very high % correct scores as well.

This weeks most words read are:

  1. Leah Fegan  204,153
  2. Finn Morrissey 160,878
  3. Claire McElvanna 93,491
  4. Sarah McKenna 53,764
  5. Kacey Cox 47,513
  6. Brannagh Smith 46,956
  7. Conor McGoldrick 42,130

P4 collectively this week you have almost read ONE MILLION WORDS (953,919 to be exact!) so a massive well done to everyone.

This week my STAR reader is ...... LEILA HUGHES,

Congratulations Leila you are working steadily and conscientiously so please keep this up. Good girl.

To everyone in P4 we have made a fantastic start to this most unexpected and unusual Accelerated Reading term but rest assured even though we are not together in our classroom we are still together in spirit and online. Stay safe everyone and there’s a tiger tongue AND an ice cream for everyone when we meet up soon.
